TMT (Treadmill Test)
The TMT, or stress test, assesses how the heart performs under physical exertion. It is used to detect issues like blocked arteries, arrhythmias, or poor blood flow, which may not be evident when the heart is at rest. The patient walks on a treadmill while connected to an ECG machine, monitoring heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels.
This test is particularly important for patients with symptoms of chest pain or those at risk of coronary artery disease. It helps doctors determine whether further investigations, such as angiography, are needed.
